A medium reading can be a few different things: a connection to deceased loved one or trance channeling.
Something to remember is that many of us have had mediumship
experiences. I cannot tell you the amount of people who have told me
that they saw a Spirit or heard something at some point in their lives.
One reason I wanted to pursue mediumship was that I wanted to make a difference, especially in the time of grief. Those that will be able to communicate best with your loved ones are those that have developed the ability to communicate with their guides and further deceased loved ones. The difference is in the vibration. We on earth vibrate at a much lower vibration than those that are on the other side. So the medium must raise their vibration, the Spirit must lower their vibration, and the vocabulary of the two must gel. When the lines of communication are clear the result is a beautiful proof that there is no end. When these lines are jumbled for whatever reason, the communication is something like 2 people talking different languages with poor cell reception, hearing every 3rd or 4th word.
I am an evidental medium, meaning that much of the reading is giving you
evidence that we are in fact talking to your deceased loved one.
I have been to "mediums" who tell me "I see an older woman, she must be your grandmother or great-grandmother and she loves you very much". This leaves me feeling frustrated. Just about everyone has an older woman who has passed, a grandmother or a great grandmother, and almost all of them love us very much. There is usually more to the message and more to the evidence than that.
If you're having a medium or a trance medium reading, through the clairs the medium should be able to give you several pieces of evidence before proceeding. I have been trained to give most if not all of the below:
Physical description
Relationship to you
Age at passing
Occupation
Essence or personality
Cause of death
Shared memories
After these things, then proceed with a message. Sometimes it is only to say "I love you"; sometimes there is a more detailed message and the opportunity to answer questions.
